When Thomas Jefferson left public office in 1809, he took his first extended stay at Poplar Forest, a planatation retreat near Lynchburg, VA. The house is the first octagonal house in America. It's an architectural masterpiece. It reopened April 1, 2009 and will remain open through November. It's hours are 10am to 4pm and is closed on Tuesday. Admission is $10.
